New Horizon Strategies’ vision is to be the champion inspiring sustainable change in the professional world to allow everyone to come alive. Through facilitation, coaching, and speaking engagements we help organizations, individuals, and groups really SEE what they want and where they’re not getting it now – and then develop a holistic action plan to reach their goals.
I’ve always been fascinated by the Thin Blue Line.
Think about it:
Earth’s thin atmosphere – the Thin Blue Line visible only from space – is all that stands between life on Earth and a cold, dark void.
The Thin Blue Line allows us to exist. To survive. To sustain life. And it keeps us open to all of the amazing possibilities of life here on Earth.
But what makes us really thrive?
What makes us fully come alive?
Author Howard Thurman once said:
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
I’m out to give the world what it needs: people who have come alive.
It’s what I do every day as a facilitator and coach at New Horizon Strategies.
In fact, it’s why I started New Horizon Strategies:
- To help people see new possibilities within their reach – inside the Thin Blue Line – where no upper boundary is clearly defined
- To help people discover what lies on their new horizon – and how to get there
I help people fully come alive by inspiring sustainable change in the professional world.
That sustainable part is important.
Because in my former career as a system manager and engineer at NASA, I spent many years trying to make lots of changes stick for different teams in different agencies and departments.
Sometimes a change stuck. But more often it didn’t – or at least not in large enough doses to make a big enough difference to the people and to the organization.
I was disillusioned: Things could be so much better!
What was wrong?
After many years of struggle and many more years of training, I learned this:
The very best technical and process-only plans, changes and improvements won’t last if people don’t get what they need.
That’s why our work considers both sides of the equation:
tasks, tools and systems, as well as people, relationships and cultures.
And then what happens?
You already know.
People disengage. Teams fight.
Projects fail. Organizations shrink.
The change you dreamed of … planned for … and worked toward is not sustainable.
At New Horizon Strategies, I’m out to change all that.
Because once people have what they need, they’re able to fully and freely release their full potential.
That’s where courage, innovation and creativity happen – and where we can have the biggest impact on the world around us.
The Thin Blue Line tells us life is precious.
On the Earth, life’s a gift.
But are we using that gift?
Are we maximizing the potential in our organizations?
In our teams?
